The Bloodsugars

What We Say:
Diagnosed with diabetes at the age of nine, Jason Rabinowitz has always had a craving for sweets. With Brendan O’Grady on bass, Matt Katz on synths, and Kenneth Salters on drums, he turned that craving into a sonic wedding cake with The Bloodsugars. The quartet that connects all the dots between indie rock and 80s’ pop, gluing them together with clever arrangements and relating lyrics. An amalgamation somewhere between The Clash, Of Montreal, and Elvis Costello.
What They Say:
“We’ve all had favorite bands who were not able to successfully replicate their sound in a live setting. That is definately not the case here. Led by Jason Rabinowitz, this is a tight session (Lounge Act, July 2008) that highlights a talented group of musicians who we look forward to hearing more from in the future.” – Matt Shiv, WOXY
“The Bloodsugars serve up some outer-borough pride on their latest release, titled BQEP. The band busts out sassy, upbeat indie rock seasoned with new wavey keyboards and the occasional spritz of dissonance.” – Time Out NY
“Fronted by Brox native, diabetic, Jason Rabinowitz, The Bloodsugars play sweet garage synth-pop, refreshingly unconnected to bands of the 80s’ in its simplicity.” – The Village Voice
